I read Digital Minimalism: Choosing a Focused Life in a Noisy World by Cal Newport this month. Here are some thoughts.

Feeling pretty jazzed that I’ve read two books so far this month/year! Granted, I did listen to the second via audiobook and had it sped up 1.5 to 2x, but I still digested the content, even if I didn’t read it with my own eyes.

And honestly, I’m okay with that. I’ve read some of Cal Newport before and his writing style doesn’t really resonate with me. While Ben Hardy gets repetitive — Bryan would say he’s a one-trick pony — there’s something in Hardy’s writing style that makes it much easier for me to comprehend and more fun to read.

Cal Newport not so much. He reads like a stuffy professor. And though he is younger than me, I think he might actually be a stuffy professor.

That said, I think his work has value. Digital Minimalism is considered one of the forerunning books on the topic of internet addiction and unplugging.
